This exploratory project investigates the lived experience of young people using social media who have experience of self-harm. The project was undertaken by the Mental Health Improvement Team and Specialist Children's Services at NHSGGC in partnership with Youth Interventions. It involved a series of focus groups with 18 young people aged 16-23 living in the Renfrewshire area, following the development of a robust ethical framework. The report provides novel insights into the complex and nuanced relationship between social media use and self-harm among young people and is primarily intended for professionals supporting young people who self-harm.Collections
