It is the follow up in a series of studies which started in 1999 when NHS Greater Glasgow conducted a health and wellbeing study of their population. The study has been repeated every three years. In 2008 the study expanded to take in the area covered by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, this study represents the second follow-up of the expanded study and also allows trends to be explored in the area administered by the former NHS Greater Glasgow. The original aims of the study were: • to provide intelligence to inform the health promotion directorate; • to explore the different experience of health and wellbeing in our most deprived communities2 • to provide information that would be useful for monitoring health promotion interventions.en
