Suicide amongst males in Scotland has risen dramatically. This is especially so for young males. The rate of suicide amongst males in the age group of 15-24 has more than doubled since 1970, whilst the rate of suicide amongst males in the 25-46 old group has more than trebled. It is now the greatest single cause of death for males aged between 15 and 34 in the country. The purpose of the research was therefore to gain an understanding of the contextual issues that face vulnerable groups of young men in Glasgow and to make appropriate recommendations for service re-alignment and development. The research was based on: an examination of literature; forty-two stakeholder interviews; and fifty-four young men at risk interviews. The report details the main research findings and makes specific recommendations in order for services to meet the needs of young males with concerns and anxieties.en
