At present a range of •health visiting services and clinic facilities are available to women and children, but there is little or no provision for males within these services unless they are ill. This is in spite of the fact that men have a higher morbitity in the main killer diseases of coronary heart disease and lung cancer than women. A remedy seemed to be called for, one that would offer men access to the National Health Service and create a new service for the local community.en
