Description
The Project engaged with 46 parents and carers between September 2018 and April 2019 to understand their lived experience of how Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) structures, policies and practices affect low income households and where financial barriers to participation exist throughout the nursery day. The Project also engaged with Glasgow City Council (GCC) ELC staff to explore their role in mitigating the effects of poverty on families enrolled with their establishments. This report recommends potential modifications in ELC policies and practices which could be considered to help lessen the financial burden on families.
