Description
A survey of homeless hostel residents aged over 34 years to determine the prevalence, severity, and support needs of people with alcohol related brain damage (ARBD). A random sample of homeless hostel residents was selected and completed a short screening interview. Only people aged over 34 years old were selected, because ARBD is uncommon at younger ages. Because the sample was random, it should be representative of the whole hostel population aged over 34 years old. If participants were cognitively impaired and had a history of alcohol dependence they were invited for more indepth assessments by a psychiatrist, psychologist, and occupational therapist.
